QUALIFICATIONS:


1. High School Diploma or GED

1. Valid Arizona State Driver's License required.
2. Two (2) years of successful experience in custodial/maintenance preferred.
3. Any specific skill mastery in custodial field.
4. Must have knowledge of custodial equipment, able to read product labels and to demonstrate handling of toxic and hazardous chemicals.
5. Requires good health; extensive walking, standing and bending, physical ability to lift 60 lbs., stoop, climb, reach and able to move classroom furniture.
6. Must be computer literate.
7. Must be reliable and dependable.
8. Ability to coordinate and direct subordinates effectively.
9. Ability to work harmoniously with administration, staff, and students.
10. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities, responsibility to have the school clean and well kept to provide an attractive environment in which to facilitate the educational community and processes.
11. Successful 90 days Probationary period.
12. A valid Arizona department of Public Safety Fingerprint card.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) months.


COMPENSATION: Hourly rate is to be determined by district pay scale and Board.


POSITION GOAL:


To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.


2. Raises the US flag at or before 8:00 am on each school day and lowers it at or before 5:00 pm.


3. Keeps all floors and corridors/hallways clean and in attractive condition during the day when their condition requires it and after school each day.


4. Scrubs/washes and disinfects toilet, floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.


5. Responsible for the daily cleaning/sanitation of the school during the day for the students and provides supply for restrooms morning and mid afternoon
and clean as needed.


6. Clean main entrance window, door and walls as needed.


7. Sweeps daily in classrooms/offices, special area rooms, locker rooms, dust furniture, cleans all chalkboards at least once a day or daily if necessary and
other areas as assigned.


8. Keeps the grounds free of rubbish and clean around the buildings, empties all trash receptacles daily.


9. Washes all windows both inside and outside at least twice each year or more frequently if necessary.


10. Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming and as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.


11. Check all door exits in the evenings.


12. Keeps building and premises clean at all times by sweeping side walks, driveways, parking areas and stairway steps as appropriate, including shoveling
snow.


13. Perform minor maintenance task, such as replacing lights and unstopping toilets and sinks.


14. Reports immediately to the principal any damage to school property and major repairs as needed.


15. Remains on the school premises during school hours and during non school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her
attendance is required by the principal.


16. Assumes responsibility for opening and closing of the building each school day and responsible for building security before leaving at night, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights are turned off except those left on for safety reasons.


17. Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment on hand, and requisitions such needed replacements from the maintenance supervisor far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as it will not hinder the custodian in this duties.


18. Moves furniture or equipment within building as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.


19. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.


20. Knows Fire Safety of the building, location of fire extinguishers and their use.


21. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, keep up on repairs and reports major repairs/maintenance to Maintenance Supervisor.


22. To provide skilled support services to ensure the safe and efficient of school facilities.


23. Willingness to be an integral member of a successful team; dedication to provide the highest level of service to the district.


24. Participates in various district training sessions for the upgrading of custodial skills.


25. Operates school property and vehicle in a safe and responsible manner at all times; obeys all traffic sign on school campus.


26. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
