Shift: Days – Monday-Friday (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM), Call Required
Duration: 13 weeks

Job Duties

• Assist surgeons and other members of the healthcare team during surgical procedures.

• Prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.

• Apply proper aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures to promote positive patient outcomes.

• Perform accurate sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to hospital policies and procedures.

• Assist with surgical procedures across various patient populations, from neonates through geriatric patients.

• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and specialties, with the ability to prioritize and respond effectively in changing situations.

• Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations in the operating room.

• Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, metric system, and surgical technology practices.

• Follow professional standards of practice and departmental policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Tech experience

• BLS certification required

• One of the following certifications required: CST, CSA, TS-C, or CORST

• Experience with neuro surgery, including spine and crani procedures

• Ability to demonstrate strong aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation skills

• Strong prioritization, problem-solving, and emergency response skills

• Call requirement: 36 hours per 6-week schedule, including approximately every 5–6 weeks
