Product Safety Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Product Safety Engineer looking to step up to lead safety compliance strategy and execution across a diverse portfolio of products. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with international safety standards, including IEC/UL/EN 62368-1, 60601-1, and 61010-1, and driving product safety excellence from concept through certification and market release. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, regulatory, and external test labs to ensure products meet global safety requirements while supporting efficient development timelines. Key Responsibilities Lead product safety compliance efforts for new and existing products Develop and execute safety test plans and certification strategies Serve as the primary interface with NRTLs and certification bodies (UL, TÜV, CSA, Intertek, etc.) Conduct and/or oversee hazard-based safety engineering (HBSE) assessments, risk analyses (FMEA, fault condition analysis) and/or design reviews for compliance (creepage/clearance, insulation, thermal, mechanical hazards). Guide engineering teams on safety requirements during product development. Manage certification projects, including timelines, documentation, and issue resolution. Review and approve critical safety documentation and reports. Support global market access (CE marking, CB Scheme, North America certifications, etc.). Stay current with evolving safety standards and regulatory changes. Required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field 2+ years of experience in product safety, compliance, or regulatory engineering Deep working knowledge of IEC/UL/EN 62368-1, IEC/UL/EN 60601-1 and IEC/UL/EN 61010-1 standards. Strong understanding of electrical safety principles (insulation, grounding, spacing), risk management and hazard analysis, international certification processes (CB Scheme, CE, UL Listing) Willingness to work on-site five days a week out of the Santa Clara lab #J-18808-Ljbffr
