Exercise Specialist

Location: Salem Hospital, 890 Oak Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97301

Schedule: Days and times are decided upon business needs, No weekends or holidays



Your role with us

As the exercise specialist, you'll assist with direct patient care in developing and modifying exercise programs to meet the specific educational and physiological needs of patients entering into various rehabilitation programs such as cardiac and/or pulmonary. You'll participate in educational activities and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team for goal setting/solving.

What you'll do

• Develops and tailors individualized patient care plans and exercise programs based on age, medical condition and physiological needs.
• Conducts fitness and health assessments, interprets results, and guides patients through safe, progressive exercise and rehabilitation programs.
• Educates patients and families on healthy lifestyle habits, including physical activity, nutrition, risk factor management and emergency response.
• Monitors patient progress and physiological responses, adjusting treatment plans and ensuring safe, effective care throughout rehabilitation.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support treatment goals, address barriers to progress and coordinate continuity of care and discharge planning.
• Manages administrative and operational tasks, including scheduling, referrals, documentation, billing accuracy and patient data entry.
• Maintains professional competency through ongoing education, cross-training, and adherence to clinical documentation and compliance standards.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required in athletic training, health, physical education or exercise science.
• Basic Life Support required within 90 days of hire.
