Job Title Highway Labor with CDL – Highway Technician 1 (20065164) Organization Transportation – District 09, Highland County Work Location District 9 Garage – Highland C, 7887 State Route 124, Hillsboro, OH 45133 Schedule Full time – Operational needs Primary Job Skill Highway Maintenance Job Description What You Will Do: Hands‑on traffic maintenance and flagging. Perform highway maintenance and repair activities such as pothole patching, berm spreading, guardrail repair, crack sealing, litter pickup, drainage work, and vegetation management (weed eating, brush cutting, mowing). Operate heavy equipment (e.g., dump truck, loader) and hand tools (e.g., chainsaw). Conduct snow and ice operations. Carry out emergency response, traffic control, and basic equipment maintenance (pre‑trip inspections, minor repairs, cleaning). Maintain records, respond to public inquiries, and assist stranded motorists. Support general labor and maintenance tasks at the garage and warehouse. Qualifications • Minimum education: arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, fractions); reading, writing, and speaking common English. • Minimum 3 months training or experience operating basic highway equipment. • Valid Commercial Driver’s License at the required level, as required by Ohio Revised Code §4506.
