Interim CFO

We are partnering with a private equity‑backed engineering firm on the West Coast to identify an Interim CFO who can bring immediate structure, financial rigor, and leadership during a critical phase of growth and operational improvement. This executive will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, private equity sponsor, and broader leadership team while also remaining close to the day‑to‑day finance function. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, operationally minded, and experienced in navigating the pace, expectations, and accountability that come with a sponsor‑backed environment. Key Responsibilities Provide immediate leadership across accounting, FP&A, cash management, and financial reporting functions. Stabilize and improve the month‑end close process, reporting accuracy, and management visibility into key financial and operating metrics. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning efforts in partnership with business and operational leaders. Build and refine KPI dashboards that support better decision‑making across offices, projects, and service lines. Strengthen cash forecasting, working capital discipline, and liquidity management. Partner closely with the CEO and private equity sponsor on board reporting, lender communications, and performance updates. Assess the finance organization, clarify roles and accountability, and improve cross‑functional coordination. Support strategic initiatives such as performance improvement, pricing analysis, cost discipline, systems/process upgrades, and preparation for permanent leadership transition. Ideal Candidate Profile Proven experience as a CFO, VP Finance, or senior finance leader in a private equity‑backed business. Strong background in engineering, construction services, industrial services, or project‑based professional services environments. Demonstrated success in interim, turnaround, transformation, or transition‑oriented finance leadership roles. Deep expertise in forecasting, board reporting, KPI development, cash flow management, and finance process improvement. Comfort operating at both the executive and detail‑oriented levels, with a willingness to roll up sleeves and drive execution. Strong executive presence and ability to build credibility quickly with sponsors, lenders, and internal stakeholders. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
