Application Deadline: September 8, 2026 Position Summary: Colorado Bar Association (CBA) is hiring a part‑time project attorney to be responsible for day‑to‑day operations of the Federal Pro Se Bankruptcy Clinic (FPSC – Bankruptcy), a CBA‑grant‑funded project. The Project Attorney will respond to intake requests, provide limited scope legal advice to pro se debtors filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, manage case files, and assist with reports, outreach, and volunteer recruitment. In addition, the Project Attorney will foster and maintain satisfactory relationships with court staff, judges, and volunteer attorneys. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide limited scope legal advice to pro se debtors filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection and to occasional pro se creditors who have received bankruptcy notices. Assist with the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the FPSC – Bankruptcy. Conduct day‑to‑day operations of FPSC – Bankruptcy, including conducting intakes, overseeing, and assisting with service delivery, and assuring client satisfaction. Recruit and retain volunteer lawyers to assist in providing advice at the FPSC‑Bankruptcy. Provide consultation with volunteer lawyers on legal issues relating to assigned cases as requested or required to assure satisfactory representation and quality control. Keep track of statistical data, generate reports and implement quality control mechanisms. Act as liaison with and foster good working relations with courts and court staff, CBA staff, and volunteer lawyers, to assure program effectiveness, and to customize program operations as appropriate or required to meet their needs. Train/mentor other staff members, interns, and volunteers. Provide information about the FPSC’s activities to the U.S. District Court, the CBA Executive Council, and FPSC’s Advisory Board, and prepare semi‑annual reports about the FPSC’s Bankruptcy Clinic activities for the same. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Qualifications: Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school, admission to practice law in state of Colorado and the US District Court for the District of Colorado A minimum of three (3) years advising clients on filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, and no pending or actual censure, suspension, or disbarment in any jurisdiction. Excellent written and oral communication skills that continually demonstrate professionalism. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Experience in and demonstrated ability to interact with a wide variety of people and constituencies with diverse economic, educational, racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. Ability to work well in fast‑pace environments, collaborate with other staff, and multitask multiple projects. Service‑oriented and member‑centric mindset with strong customer‑service judgment. Knowledge of standard office management systems and computer software, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, Zoom, etc. Ideal characteristics include attention‑to‑detail, integrity, determination, curiosity, and reliability.
