Responsibilities Lab Processing Assistants perform pre‑analytic specimen processing, operate a variety of laboratory and office equipment, enter information and test orders into the laboratory computer system, and may respond to a high volume of phone calls seeking laboratory testing information. They are responsible for ensuring correct patient identification on specimens, proper documentation, and resolution of pre‑analytic specimen‑related issues. They provide support to the laboratory team, may perform complex reagent preparation, manage work unit supply inventory, operate automated systems, and provide training to colleagues. Qualifications Associate's degree or high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of work experience, including clinical laboratory and/or other relevant experience. Previous experience or knowledge of computers, keyboarding, telephone operations, and other office equipment desired. Ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling. Highly organized, able to prioritize, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment. Good human relations skills and ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Availability to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off‑shifts, holidays, and weekend work assignments. Attention to detail and adherence to strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents. Exemption Status Nonexempt Compensation Detail Required education, experience, tenure, and internal equity will be considered when offers are extended. Pay range: $20.00–$26.44 per hour.
