Quality Engineer

AWS/CES is looking for a Quality Engineer for our automotive manufacturing client Location: Lansing, MI Pay rate: $83,500 salary base + Benefits Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional who is passionate about continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and maintaining world-class quality systems within an IATF 16949 manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, Customers, and Suppliers to develop and maintain quality systems while supporting new product launches, customer requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems in accordance with IATF 16949 standards. Create and maintain Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, Work Instructions, DOE documentation, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA). Conduct annual reviews of Control Plans, GR&R studies, and PFMEAs. Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns and complaints. Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Coordinate PPAP submissions, engineering changes, Run-at-Rate activities, and customer approvals. Support supplier quality improvement initiatives and maintain strong customer relationships. Analyze manufacturing and quality data to identify trends and drive process improvements. Monitor process capability, product quality, and manufacturing performance. Utilize problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, SPC, and statistical analysis. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, improving quality, and increasing efficiency. Manage gauge design, calibration activities, and Gauge R&R studies. Support dimensional layouts and inspection activities. Ensure measurement systems meet customer and internal requirements. Prepare and submit PPAP documentation. Maintain quality documentation and customer-specific requirements. Review OEM customer scorecards and quality metrics. Support engineering changes and product launch documentation. Participate in APQP activities and cross‑functional project teams. Train production personnel on quality systems, SPC, and quality procedures. Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Operations to achieve plant quality objectives. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical College Diploma (CET or equivalent). Minimum of 2 years of Quality Engineering experience in an automotive or aerospace manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of IATF 16949 quality standards. Experience with: APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, GR&R, Corrective Actions (CAPA). Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency. Experience using ERP systems such as Plex, SAP, Oracle, or similar. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent.
