Transportation Manager Job summary : The Transportation Manager will support the transportation department in compliance with state regulations and school district policies. This position serves as the primary point of contact for managing the routing software and making adjustments to routes as needed. The Transportation Manager will collaborate directly with school administrators, families, and drivers to ensure the development of efficient and cost-effective transportation routes. Essential duties and responsibilities :• Assisting in the daily management of the transportation facility.
• Drive routes and dispatch as needed.
• Responsible for scheduling and planning all bus routes.
• Assist as a back up to help work with building administration regarding student discipline issues/concerns. As well as following up with parents and staff on any issues or concerns
• Assist with bus evacuation drills and training.
• Assist in the hiring process for new staff
• Assist in Develop and oversee adequate training programs for all department employees.
• Make recommendations for contract negotiations with department personnel.
• Work with the Transportation Supervisor to make recommendations for the improvement of services.
• Assist in coordinating the purchase, maintenance and inventory of all district vehicles.
• Assist in the preparation and administration of transportation budget.
• Promote high standards of safety and customer service for the department.
• Assist in monitoring certification and employment requirements for assigned staff.
• Attend training opportunities and meetings as required and remain current on school bus laws and regulations.
• Other related duties as assigned or required. Supervisory Responsibilities
• Supervises all transportation staff
The desired candidate must possess the following attributes :
• Able to effectively take direction, as well as, work independently and as a member of a team.
• Utilizing transportation management systems to monitor performance metrics, analyze costs, and assess their overall value.
• Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment, common sense, and a calm demeanor.
• Impeccable character, sense of humor, and compassion for students, families, and district staff.
• Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
• Ability to use computer technology Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications :
• Good Communication skills and ability to work with administration, staff, parents and students.
• Successful experience in a supervisory position
• Knowledge of school bus traffic laws, safety, mechanics and routing.
• Flexible, caring, creative individual.
• Possess computer skills in excel, word, google docs/mail and calendars.
• Punctual and rarely absent work habits.
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Education and/or Experience : Minimum high school graduation or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational experience in Pupil Transportation systems preferred. Proficiency in transportation routing software preferred. Proficiency in creating and managing a budget. Basic understanding of the educational process and corresponding role of transportation. Ability to work cooperatively with administration, staff, students, parents, and members of the public. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Excellent driving record with zero points is required. A Commercial Driver's License with CDL/Bus Driver Endorsement is preferred. We are willing to train. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. Must have the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Position Details :

• Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 based on experience, Insurance Benefits
• Contract to work 230 days per year
• Starting date: August 1, 2026 or sooner if available
