Veterinary Extern - Specialty

An externship experience here at MissionVet Specialty & Emergency gives students real-life clinical experience in a multi-specialty and emergency hospital, and the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills while working alongside experienced clinicians and board-certified specialists. Hands-on skills that may be practiced or observed include TPRs, examinations, anesthesia, surgical procedures, catheterization, ultrasound, and other diagnostic procedures as they are available. Externship experiences at MissionVet Specialty & Emergency are in two-week increments. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in Ethos externships, though preference may be given to students in their final year(s) of veterinary school. Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a paid externship. This is an hourly salary up to 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Participate in a two-week externship cycle at MissionVet Specialty & Emergency, gaining exposure to multi-specialty and emergency care. Observe and participate in activities such as examinations, patient monitoring (TPRs), anesthesia, surgical procedures, catheterization, ultrasound, and other diagnostic procedures as available. Qualifications and Eligibility All veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a paid externship. Preference may be given to students in their final year(s) of veterinary school.
