Paralegal Position

Basic Qualifications:

• Paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
• At least one year of litigation paralegal experience required.
• At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
• Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
• Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
• Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
• Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
• Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

• Trial experience helpful
• Automated litigation support experience valued
• Prior experience working in a Federal Government environment
• Current Public Trust or higher security clearance

The principal place of performance shall be at: USCIS Office of the Chief Counsel, 5900 Capital Gateway Drive, Camp Springs, MD 20746. The position is currently allowing for remote work; however, this is subject to change. For this reason, only individuals in the Washington DC metro area will be considered.

Workdays and Work Hours:

Each position is considered full-time, which is 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day. The contractor must work the 8 hours/day, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, ET; the proposed schedule must receive prior approval, and the work schedule is expected to be the same as the supported office personnel. During their core hours shift, all staff must be available via MS Teams and for phone calls; these are the preferred methods of communication. In addition, due to the demands of active litigation, overtime hours will be occasionally necessary for time-sensitive projects. If overtime is needed, overtime shall only be performed with the prior approval of the DOJ COR and Leidos in accordance with contractor procedures.
