Registered Behavior TechnicianThe Registered Behavior Technician, under the direct supervision of the Behavior Analyst, assists in the development and implementation of behavior intervention programs for students with challenging behavioral needs with a wide variety of age ranges at various sites throughout the district, monitors and collects data on behavior and documents progress, and collaborates with school staff to coach and implement behavior interventions.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnderstand and apply the basic principles of ABA in classroom settings as directedEffectively communicate with team membersProvide skills instruction to students using behavior reduction protocols based on principles of ABAAssist with the implementation and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs under the close, ongoing supervision of a BCBAProvide modeling and training to teachers and paraprofessionals on how to implement behavior reduction protocols Describe behavior functions and appropriate preventative, replacement, and responsive strategies based on behavior functionsModel scenarios across environments and staffAssist staff in implementing appropriate de-escalation and responsive strategies for problem behaviorAssist BCBA with observations and data collection for assessmentsCollect and monitor ongoing behavior dataAssist teachers and paraprofessionals on behavior data collection measuresAssist BCBA in analyzing and interpreting dataAssist in the development of reinforcement/preference assessmentsImplement and promote positive behavior intervention supports throughout the District, including systems at individual school sitesAssist in creating and/or adapting classroom tasks, materials, and curriculum to meet students' educational and behavioral needsWhen required, provide intervention for students demonstrating unsafe behaviorsAssist in providing professional development to educate staff on general ABA skills/principles and evidence based practicesAdditional related tasks as assigned by the BCBA, Director of Special Services, or other administrationKnowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and evidence based practices and interventions (e.g., Discrete Trial Training, Pivotal Response Training, Social Skills Training, Self-Regulation Teaching, Functional Communication Training, positive reinforcement, extinction, etc.)Knowledge of prompting and fading proceduresUnderstanding of and familiarity with the characteristics for a wide variety of disabilities including, but not limited to, autism, intellectual disability, emotional behavioral disorders, and ADHDKnowledge of crisis and behavior management strategies and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)Basic curriculum knowledge including mathematics, reading, and writingUnderstand the needs of students with learning, developmental, and behavioral disabilities and effectively relate to learning situations Be flexible, creative, and utilize problem solving approaches based on situationsMaintain the security and confidentiality of records and informationExercise tact, patience, courtesy, and good judgment in dealing with students and staffExercise flexibility to respond to emergency and/or unforeseen situationsDemonstrate enthusiasm, as well as relatability to work with students and staff of all agesQualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDAge 21+Maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) issued by the Board Analyst Certification Board (BACB)Complete district provided crisis intervention trainingEffective written and oral communication skillsClean background checkPhysical Requirements*Be able to walk short distances to escort children between classrooms and activitiesBe able to sit, stand, lean, reach, bend, lift (<50 lbs.) and kneel to assist students and apply appropriate crisis intervention techniquesBe able to walk on uneven surfaces (playground)Be able to walk up and down stairsBe outside in all weather conditions for assigned dutyIn district travel*Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Reports to: Director of Behavior Services (BCBA) and Director of Special EducationContract: 179 days
