Intellectual Property Paralegal

Overview The Intellectual Property (Patent) Paralegal will manage client portfolios, including all filings and correspondence for US, PCT and foreign prosecution. Responsibilities include creating, revising, and filing prosecution documents, corresponding with foreign associates on all aspects of foreign prosecution, and reporting official correspondence in a timely manner. The role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be highly adaptable, proactive, possess analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills, and be comfortable with Microsoft products and technology. The ability to work both independently and in a team is a must. Strong customer‑service orientation and oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with all tiers of personnel and clients are integral. Responsibilities Support various intellectual property attorneys to provide excellent service to our clients Prepare and file, or instruct, on all aspects of US, PCT and foreign prosecution Draft formality documents, attend to document legalisation where necessary, and comply with priority document requirements Review and maintain a docket of associated deadlines for assigned clients Timely report official communications to the client and foreign associates Consistently achieve the billable hour expectation set by the firm (including approved non‑billable time) Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum of one year of experience in patent prosecution Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent); a college degree and/or a paralegal certificate from an ABA‑approved school is preferred If residing in California, must meet the State of California requirements to be a Paralegal as defined by the State Thorough knowledge of patent procedural requirements of USPTO practices In support of transparency and equity in the workplace, Foley provides salary ranges for all positions. The figures below represent the full compensation range of this position. The actual offered amount will be between the minimum and midpoint based on education, experience, geographic market and internal pay equity at Foley.
