Perioperative Patient Care Assistant, Surgery Services

Title: Periop Patient Care Assistant Location: Fountain Valley, CA Department: Surgery Services Status: Full Time Shift: Evenings (8hr) Pay Range: $22.50/hr - $31.57/hr Signing Bonus: $1,500 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements. Position Summary: The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant performs basic patient care tasks as a cooperative member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team in the Surgery Services nursing unit at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center. The assistant reports to a supervising nurse at all times and provides clerical support as assigned, facilitating a safe, clean working environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities Meets population specific competencies. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform assigned tasks according to hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to clean assigned area according to hospital policy, wearing appropriate PPE during turnover between patients and terminal cleaning. Demonstrates the ability and understanding of properly using chemicals per instructions. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures. Participates in processes that improve the standards of care and practice in the delivery of nursing service. Demonstrates the ability to safely and completely use equipment in the performance of assignment. Utilizes effective communication with patients, families, and staff members. Supports sustainment of the Magnet culture. Possesses knowledge of job specific competencies and demonstrates ability to safely perform tasks associated with job responsibilities. Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience: Basic computer knowledge preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of recent Acute Care experience preferred. Ability to fulfill the on-call requirement of the department. Education/Licensure/Certification: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
