Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive Occupational Therapy services for students with autism spectrum disorders. The Occupational Therapist functions as a member of the educational and therapeutic team. Duties and responsibilities include providing treatment, collaborating with team members, maintaining professional documentation, and participating in team meetings and professional development sessions.

Knowledge and skills required include effective communication, knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, familiarity with diagnostic tools and procedures, knowledge of Occupational Therapy treatment strategies, and strong written and communication skills.

Minimum job requirements include a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and an Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation license.

The Occupational Therapist follows the Day School Staff calendar and must possess appropriate professional credentials. Pre-employment physical, drug screening, and criminal background check are required. Participation in PCM training and adherence to the Professional Crisis Management Association's guidelines require at least average physical fitness.

Working conditions and physical effort include moderate physical movement and exposure to physical risk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.

An annual performance review will be conducted each spring by the Program Coordinator in Elementary or the OT Lead in Secondary. The Occupational Therapist will complete a self-assessment of his/her performance and submit the self-assessment to the Program Coordinator in Elementary or the OT Lead in Secondary two weeks prior to his/her annual review each spring.
