Physical Therapist

Summary Physical Therapist will primarily practice physical therapy in the assigned New Braunfels Outpatient Clinic – Texas. The therapist evaluates patients, plans and establishes a full range of comprehensive treatment procedures designed to improve or restore function through the use of physical modalities, therapeutic exercise, education, prostheses, assistive devices and/or any other modality within the scope of physical therapy outlined by the American Physical Therapy Association. Qualifications U.S. citizenship; non‑citizens may only be appointed when no qualified citizens are available per VA policy. Education and experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy with five (5) years of progressively independent experience as a PT, or • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy with two (2) years of progressively independent experience, or • Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. Must be a graduate of a CAPTE‑accredited program. Current, unrestricted state license to practice physical therapy. Proficiency in written and spoken English. Experience performing autonomous clinical assessments and developing comprehensive treatment plans in a direct patient‑care setting. Ability to supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, students, and volunteers. Duties Assess and treat patients, developing individualized programs that meet functional goals. Evaluate complex cases, determine functional status, and plan appropriate interventions. Maintain accurate documentation, review progress, and coordinate care with medical center staff. Communicate effectively with health‑care providers to coordinate the patient’s total care. Participate in clinical conferences and scheduled medical meetings. Ensure clinic equipment is properly maintained and that supplies are adequate. Supervise and train PT assistants, students, and volunteers; serve as clinical education coordinator when assigned. Maintain licensure and complete required Continuing Competency Units (CCU’s) in each biennium. Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Telework: ad‑hoc only.
