About Branchville Correctional Facility: Branchville Correctional Facility is a medium-security facility located in Branchville, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 1,400 incarcerated adult males. The facility focuses on rehabilitation by offering several educational and vocational programs. Incarcerated individuals participate in woodworking and sewing, producing items that support local community organizations. Staff foster an environment that promotes accountability, skill development, and preparation for re-entry. The facility's rural southern Indiana location provides a structured and supportive atmosphere for growth. Programs are designed to help incarcerated individuals return to their communities with meaningful skills.

Role Overview: As a Maintenance Technician, you'll join a full-service maintenance team, supporting daily repair and preventive maintenance in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. You may supervise incarcerated individual maintenance workers following general instructions and standard practices of the trade. This Monday-Friday role offers steady hours (7.5 hours a day), strong safety practices, and hands-on experience. We provide training for motivated individuals starting their maintenance career, with a clear path for advancement into supervisory and leadership roles (Maintenance Technician ? Maintenance Supervisor ? Physical Plant Director). Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Depending on the retirement plan you choose, the total compensation value of a $42,900.00 salary, including the State's retirement contributions, can reach approximately $69,822.98. This highlights the full value of your benefits package, beyond your take-home pay.

A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals. Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects. Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles. Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development. Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures. Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What You'll Need for Success: Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following: Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades. Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites. Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure the operation of the department. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents. Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Thorough knowledge of the OSHA standards, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas. Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs. Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather. Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow. Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets. Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License. A degree is not required. Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group. This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
