Hospital Patient Transporter Detroit Main Campus

Job Summary:

The Hospital Patient Transporter is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients, medical equipment, and other essential items throughout the hospital. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely patient care and maintaining smooth hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to various departments (e.g., radiology, surgery, discharge).
Assist patients in and out of transport vehicles, beds, and wheelchairs as needed.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport, including proper use of restraints and equipment.
Deliver medical records, specimens, medications, and equipment between departments.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of transport equipment.
Respond promptly to transport requests via hospital communication systems.
Communicate effectively with nursing staff, patients, and other hospital personnel.
Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED pref
Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
Ability to lift and move patients and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Work Environment:

Fast-paced hospital setting.
Frequent walking, standing, and lifting.
Exposure to patients with various medical conditions.
