We are considering candidates with a variety of experience levels. DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers is the largest personal injury law firm in the state of Kansas, and we continue to experience rapid growth across our offices in Kansas and Missouri. Currently, our 40 attorneys join our team of over 130 individuals to aggressively fight for injured people in a professional manner. We represent clients who have been injured and need a compassionate advocate to fight for them against big insurance companies. Our team is specialized; we need an attorney to join our Litigation Team. Duties include managing a caseload of lawsuits, attending court hearings, legal writing, taking depositions, and serving as first chair at trial. Other positions include our Pre‑Litigation Attorney Team, whose duties include meeting with clients and potential clients, handling case files, presenting cases to our Focus Group, preparing cases for demand, negotiating settlements, attending court hearings for approval, and serving as second chair in trial. This is a full‑time, in‑office position. Benefits include health and dental insurance, long‑term and short‑term disability insurance, paid time off (2 weeks in the first year, 3 weeks thereafter, increasing one day per year until 4 weeks at 6 years, plus 8 paid holidays), and eligibility for the 401(k) plan after one year (the firm contributes 3% of salary). The starting salary for new attorneys looking for their first job after passing the bar is $85,000, and those with limited/some experience will be considered for a range of $85,000–$120,000 per year. Performance/feedback meetings occur periodically during the first 6 months. A bonus plan is available for independently handling files. Job Type: Full‑time, In‑office Experience is not necessary. A Kansas bar license (or pending Kansas bar exam) is required. Individuals licensed in other states, but working toward a Kansas or Missouri license, are also encouraged to apply. Attorneys applying for the Kansas City office must be dual‑licensed in Kansas and Missouri.
