Logistics & Shipping Coordinator

The Logistics & Shipping Coordinator supports the accurate, safe, and on-time shipment of finished goods and inbound materials. This role coordinates daily shipping activities, prepares documentation, schedules carrier pickups, tracks shipments, and maintains accurate records in the ERP/system of record. The Logistics & Shipping Coordinator works closely with Production, Customer Service, and shipping and receiving team members to support delivery performance, freight coordination, and process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily outbound shipping activities to meet customer delivery requirements and internal production/pack-out timelines.
  • Schedule carrier pickups and deliveries for FTL, LTL, parcel, and/or dedicated routes as applicable; communicate pickup details and shipment status to internal teams.
  • Securing freight costs by sourcing competitive quotes, negotiating carrier rates, and auditing invoices to identify and reduce excess accessorial charges.
  • Prepare and verify accurate shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, labels, and other required paperwork.
  • Track shipments, monitor delivery status, and help resolve delays, missed pickups, damages, or other freight exceptions.
  • Support staging, packaging, labeling, and loading activities to help ensure orders are complete, accurate, and protected from damage.
  • Enter and maintain accurate shipping, receiving transactions within the ERP system.
  • Assist with inventory accuracy by researching discrepancies, confirming shipment quantities, and communicating issues to the appropriate departments.
  • Communicate professionally with carriers, vendors, customers, and internal departments regarding shipment status, documentation, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain organized shipping records and support reporting for on-time shipment, freight cost, claims, damages, and other logistics metrics.
  • Support shipping and receiving organization, 5S practices, standard work, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Oversee shipment tracking and provide proactive client communication on route changes, delays, and weather-related risks to ensure service continuity.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse operations, distribution, or a related role; manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel, email, and basic reporting or data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with carriers, customers, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Proven experience scheduling and managing multiple inbound and outbound shipments, utilizing advance planning and operational readiness.

You Will Excite Us If:

  • Experience coordinating LTL, parcel, and/or dedicated route shipments.
  • Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with export shipments, or customer routing requirements.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with exposure to 5S, standard work, or kaizen activities.
  • Working knowledge of carrier coordination, freight documentation, shipment tracking, and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Experience using ERP, shipping, warehouse, or receiving systems to enter transactions and maintain accurate records.
