Bring your passion for empowering students to a dynamic contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in a high school life skills classroom for the full 2026–2027 school year. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and post-secondary outcomes of students with diverse learning needs, working in a supportive and collaborative environment. This contract position is based near Henniker, NH.

Preferred candidates have direct experience managing a high school life skills classroom, but all licensed special education teachers are encouraged to apply. This is your chance to make a real difference for students as they develop critical skills and prepare for life beyond high school.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification/license in Special Education.
• Experience running or participating in a high school life skills or similar classroom preferred.
• Solid understanding of IEP development, functional goals, and transition planning.
• Ability to manage and collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff.
• Effective communication skills for working with students, families, and colleagues.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead a specialized classroom focusing on life skills for high school students with special needs.
• Develop, implement, and maintain individualized education plans (IEPs) and targeted functional goals.
• Oversee paraprofessional staff within the classroom to ensure a cohesive learning environment.
• Track student progress and conduct regular assessments to inform instruction and support.
• Collaborate with families and other school staff to drive positive student outcomes.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages growth and independence.
