Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher/Consultant serving two neighboring high schools in the Garden City, MI area. This is a full-time, contract opportunity available immediately through June 2027, providing both direct student support and consultative services to staff and families. Work as part of a collaborative, supportive educational environment focused on positive outcomes for high school students with diverse learning needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Teaching Certificate with SM, SE, SA, or SV endorsement required
- Master’s degree and Teacher Consultant Approval, or at least three years of successful special education teaching experience in Michigan
- Strong understanding of IDEA, MARSE, the IEP process, and compliance requirements
- Experience supporting IEPs, 504 plans, METs, evaluations, progress monitoring, and MTSS
- Excellent collaborative skills, able to consult effectively with teachers, families, administrators, and related service teams
Responsibilities:
- Support a caseload of approximately 25 high school students requiring special education services
- Provide interventions, academic and behavioral support, and ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state regulations
- Consult and collaborate with staff, students, and families to develop and implement effective IEPs and 504 plans
- Assist with evaluations, progress monitoring, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Deliver professional guidance and support to foster student success and growth
