Nurse Manager

At Fremont Hospital, our Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides supervision and coaching to the nursing staff and acts as a resource for hospital policies and procedures.
• Acts as a behavioral model of clinical and procedural expertise to other staff members through demonstration, teaching and mutual consultation.
• Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
• Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
• Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments.
• Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff. Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff; following up on work results.
• Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience in psychiatric nursing management.

Experience: Three (3) years experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing and is in good standing.

Thorough knowledge of TJC, CMS, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. CPR (AED) certification must be obtained prior to the completion of orientation.
