The primary function of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is to assist the licensed Occupational Therapist in carrying out the established plan of care/treatments on each patient.

Responsibilities:

• Perform/assist with occupational therapy treatments as directed by the licensed occupational therapist(s) per plan of care and is consistent with the level of training and the regulations of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts to provide optimal patient care
• Maintains licensure requirements
• Ensures accuracy and timeliness of documentation of each patient visit, as well as cancellations and no shows
• Ensures accuracy of charge entry
• Assist in scheduling/re-scheduling of patients
• Assist with quality assurance projects as needed/required
• Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings and continuing education as required by the hospital and Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. Attends hospital and departmental meetings as required
• Assists with maintenance of the department including cleaning of surfaces and equipment before/after patient use and ordering supplies

Qualifications:

Certification is required as directed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts and must be maintained in order to treat any patients under the direction of the licensed occupational therapist. State of Kansas Licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

The facility is a CAH licensed at 25 beds but currently has 16 beds. On-site we have acute and swing bed skilled care, as well as a 24/7 emergency room with two trauma bays. They have applied for Level IV trauma status. They have a rural health clinic at the main campus and two satellite clinics in smaller communities. The facility provides surgical services, Laboratory, Radiology and Rehabilitation Services. The hospital includes efficiency apartments that are available for on-call staff to stay in if they live out of town at no cost to the employee. Total employee group is approximately 170 with 123 Full Time Equivalents. Their small but have a great group of employees who care about one another! There is a full time Occupational Therapist and a Full Time COTA and they are adding another COTA. This position might have some weekend coverage for inpatients involved. There is no on-call required. The hospital offers a range between 54K-62K depending on experience and they offer a full benefit package.
