This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director Regional Practice based in the United States.
Lead regional operations and drive measurable performance improvements across a portfolio of physician practices in Ohio. In this senior leadership role, you will bridge the gap between practice-level operations, clinical leadership, and enterprise revenue cycle functions to strengthen financial performance and service delivery. You will translate strategic priorities into actionable operating plans, using data-driven insights to improve patient access, billing, collections, and overall operational efficiency. Working closely with physicians, practice administrators, and cross-functional teams, you will foster accountability, resolve complex challenges, and standardize best practices across multiple locations. You will also coach regional leaders, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and ensure consistent execution of performance improvement initiatives. This remote-based opportunity combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational engagement, including approximately 50% travel across Ohio to support practices and drive sustainable results.
Accountabilities
- Regional strategy and operational planning: Develop and implement regional practice strategies aligned with enterprise priorities, establishing clear operational plans, performance objectives, and improvement initiatives across assigned Ohio locations.
- Performance management: Establish regional performance baselines, monitor operational and financial indicators, and lead business reviews, performance action plans, escalations, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Revenue cycle optimization: Drive improvements in patient access, billing, coding, collections, denial management, service delivery, and revenue cycle performance to strengthen financial outcomes and patient experience.
- Data analysis and decision-making: Interpret operational and financial data, identify performance gaps and emerging trends, and translate findings into practical recommendations for process, staffing, technology, and resource improvements.
- Cross-functional coordination: Partner with enterprise teams across finance, revenue cycle, technology, operations, and clinical functions to resolve operational barriers and ensure effective implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Practice leadership partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to physicians, practice administrators, clinical leaders, and senior executives, building strong relationships and aligning local needs with broader organizational objectives.
- Leadership development: Lead, coach, and develop regional leaders and team members, establishing clear expectations for accountability, communication, onsite engagement, issue escalation, and performance management.
- Operational standardization: Develop repeatable operating procedures, playbooks, and performance management practices that promote consistency, efficiency, and accountability across multiple physician practices.
- Executive communication and reporting: Provide concise, data-driven updates on regional performance, operational risks, improvement progress, and resource requirements to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Change management: Lead operational changes, navigate competing priorities, resolve conflicts, and encourage adoption of improved processes while balancing enterprise standards with individual practice needs.
- Compliance and governance: Ensure regional activities align with organizational policies, contractual commitments, applicable regulatory requirements, and established operating standards.
- Performance outcomes: Drive measurable improvements in operational efficiency, patient access, service quality, and revenue cycle indicators while reducing recurring escalations and ensuring timely completion of improvement plans.
- Onsite engagement and travel: Maintain a visible presence across assigned Ohio practices, with approximately 50% travel, including day trips and occasional overnight stays for practice visits, leadership meetings, implementations, and performance reviews.
- Additional responsibilities: Support special projects and other duties as business needs and organizational priorities evolve.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, nursing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Professional experience: At least seven years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, physician practice management, revenue cycle management, ambulatory care, or regional healthcare leadership.
- Leadership experience: At least three years of people management or multi-site operational leadership experience, including responsibility for performance improvement and team development.
- Multi-site operations: Demonstrated success improving performance across multiple physician practices, healthcare facilities, or regional markets, with the ability to establish consistent operating standards and measurable accountability.
- Healthcare and revenue cycle expertise: Strong knowledge of physician practice operations and healthcare revenue cycle processes, including patient access, billing, coding, collections, denials, and service performance.
- Financial and operational analysis: Ability to interpret complex operational and financial metrics, identify root causes of performance gaps, and translate data into actionable improvement plans.
- Stakeholder management: Proven ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with physicians, practice administrators, clinical leaders, regional managers, and senior executives.
- Strategic and critical thinking: Strong business judgment, disciplined prioritization, and the ability to balance enterprise objectives with the operational realities of individual practices.
- Change leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements, influence stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, resolve conflicts, and sustain operational changes across distributed teams.
- Communication and presentation: Excellent executive communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate performance insights, recommendations, risks, and expectations clearly.
- People development: A commitment to coaching, mentoring, strengthening leadership capabilities, and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Technology proficiency: Familiarity with Epic or other enterprise practice management and revenue cycle platforms is preferred.
- Preferred qualifications: A master's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related discipline is an advantage. Relevant credentials, such as HFMA's Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP), Lean Six Sigma, or comparable operational certifications, are also desirable.
- Regional experience: Experience supporting Ohio physician practices or multi-site healthcare operations is beneficial.
- Personal attributes: Demonstrates integrity, sound judgment, adaptability, ownership, and a collaborative, service-oriented approach that considers the needs of clients, patients, colleagues, and clinical partners.
- Travel availability: Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time across assigned locations in Ohio.
- Work authorization and location: Must reside and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Applications from individuals located outside the United States will not be considered.
Benefits
