The Charge Nurse oversees and coordinates patient care activities during the assigned shift, providing direction to both licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel. - Lead, organize, and direct nursing staff to ensure appropriate staffing ratios and high-quality care
- Coordinate services with providers, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Act as the on-shift leader, maintaining accountability for program operations
- Monitor program safety and lead crisis response when needed
- Support staff through coaching, training, and performance feedback
- Maintain clear, timely, and confidential documentation and communication
- Provide direct patient care while modeling best practices
- Participate in staff meetings, committees, and ongoing program development
- Keep leadership informed of shift activities, concerns, and outcomes
- Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas
- ANCC Psychiatric Nursing Certification preferred
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance required
- Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience or ANCC certification in psychiatric nursing
- Experience working with children and adolescents
- More than 2 years supervising RNs in a psychiatric care setting
- Experience with electronic medication administration records (eMAR) and electronic health records (EHR)
- Eligible for weekend differential ($2/hr), evening differential ($3/hr), and preceptor differential ($2/hr)
