Purchasing Planner

Location WIRTGEN AMERICA, Inc., Antioch, TN 37013, USA Job Overview The Purchasing Planner coordinates the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates all activities related to purchase of materials, parts, equipment, and commodities beginning with intent to purchase through delivery. Plans sequence of ordering and analyzes the requirements of the item, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date item is needed. Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested item. Investigate and/or interviews with potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements. Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used. Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the item balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs. Prepares Purchase Orders/Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations. Assures that the item is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company. Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records. Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute items in a cost-effective manner. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of education or purchasing experience. Familiarity with SAP is a plus. Prior parts planning/purchasing experience helpful but not necessary Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear, required to frequently sit, stand; walk; gross hand and finger dexterity; occasionally reach outward with hands and arms; rarely climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently working in a conditioned office environment with commensurate noise levels, frequent sitting, occasional standing, and walking to navigate first and second level floors; fine hand-eye coordination and motor skills for keyboarding and manipulating papers and files. This position requires up to 25% travel a year.
