Position Overview:
A Midwest based and national leading manufacturer and distributor of quality consumer goods is currently seeking an exceptionally talented and highly capable Plant Manager in the metropolitan Detroit area. The successful candidate is an experienced and hands-on transformational leader who is capable of leading manufacturing and cultural change to drive performance. This person must have previous experience with plant performance in a high volume technical manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, this position will be responsible for directing and coordinating all manufacturing activities at our facility in order to meet and exceed operational goals and objectives in the areas of safety, quality, employee relations, customer service, cost and productivity. .
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Lead and manage all plant functions, including Production & Inventory Control, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Shipping/Receiving, Warehousing, Quality Assurance and Human Resources.
- Manage effective corrective, predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
- Manage all manufacturing processes and personnel to meet or exceed daily OEE goals on a consistent basis.
- Lead in Quality Assurance Excellence whereby the facility meets all 3rd party audit requirements, drives process standardization, and improves overall customer satisfaction. Maintain a culture which supports disciplined & systematic process management, and has data driven decision making.
- Oversee plant scheduling, forecasting, warehousing and inventory to increase turns, minimize cost, and drive optimized OTIF.
- Safeguard the health and safety of all employees and avoid legal jeopardy to the company through strict compliance with all MIOSHA, state, local and federal rules and regulations.
- Leverage plant resources to meet or exceed all KPI’s, most importantly productivity, quality, waste, safety and budget.
- Lead in driving a Lean culture and implementing solid Lean disciplines through the development of a wide variety of improvement initiatives, and projects designed to improve throughput, quality and value utilizing lean techniques such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), 8-D, Problem Solving and Value Analysis which result in significant efficiency improvements.
- Play an active role in people management through recruiting, employee relations and performance management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 10-12 years of manufacturing experience, including at least four (4) in plant leadership in a fast paced, high volume production environment.
- Demonstrated values of integrity, humility, respect for others, teamwork and collaboration, accountability and performance.
- Highly developed leadership, change management, interpersonal, communication and people management skills to drive plant performance.
- Must be able to develop and coach managers and supervisors in a high performing environment. Has demonstrated the ability to initiate critical conversations and provide timely feedback as needed.
- Experience in fostering and maintaining a positive and productive labor relations environment.
- Hands on, walk around plant floor GEMBA management style.
