Job Overview and QualificationsUnder the general guidance of the Charge Nurse or Unit Director, the staff nurse is responsible for delivering direct nursing care and coordinating with ancillary units and physicians during assigned shifts. Working alongside other management team members, this role is essential for maintaining high-quality patient care services within the unit. The clinical RN will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, delegate, and coordinate treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team and the patient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the patient's condition upon admission and during each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in their status.
- Carry out procedures, monitoring, or other tasks as directed by medical providers, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of care in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient's response, and take appropriate actions if any adverse reactions occur.
- Deliver outstanding care by responding swiftly to patient requests, anticipating their needs, and addressing them proactively.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up care, ensuring clarity by simplifying complex medical terms.
Qualifications Required:
Licensure and Certification:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a Compact state
- BCLS certification
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Course within six months of hire
Education:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience:
- No prior experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of nursing experience
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team to ensure quality care
