Job Description: 4/10's - Variable Start Times. No time off requests can be accommodated at this time. Facility requires references - please send with submission. NO first time travelers. Traveler MUST be proficient in EPIC. Orthopedic Surgery Center Hours of operation: Monday Friday; opens at 0545 until finish last case; usually at 1700; flexes with surgeon. NO HOLIDAYS, NO WEEKENDS. Traveler may be floated to another surgical unit of their same specialty. May float to Same Day Surgery, Pain Management, Main Operating Room. Patient Population: 2-100 y/o outpatient orthopedic surgery center. Orthopedic specialty cover sports, upper extremity, lower extremity, foot & ankle, physiatry, joints, pediatric ortho. Staff types: OP surgery RN circulator, RN preop/PACU, PCT, front desk, surgery tech, radiology tech, sterile processing. Interventional pain management is located on the same campus in a separate building with 2 procedure rooms and 10 pre/post.

Unit Details: This area is an outpatient orthopedic surgery center. Nurses are required to float to the main OR, pain management procedural and same day surgery as needed. Hours of operation: M-F, open 0545 until finish, usually 1700, flexes with surgeon. Interventional pain management is located on the same campus in a separate building with 2 procedure rooms and 10 pre/post. For RNFAs need 2 years of scrub experience in orthopedic specialty - REQUIRED. Call 911 for emergencies. Average Daily Census: 30. 2 ORs; 8 pre-op/PACU beds; Staffing is shared with Pain Management. Float to Main hospital required. No Weekends. The unit varies in start times for a 10 hour shift based on the census. Late day coverage is expected on a fair and rotational basis with other staff. Aya auto offer without RTO. EPIC Charting Required.

Certs: ACLS, BLS, PALS. 2 years minimum experience. Scrubs provided. Flu Vaccine required - exemptions accepted on a case by case basis.

Special Procedures/Unit Details: This area is an outpatient orthopedic surgery center. Nurses are required to float to the main OR, pain management procedural and same day surgery as needed. Travel Compliance RTO - should not exceed 7 days and MUST be submitted with profile; if not submitted in profile, it will not be approved. However, ICU will not approve more than 4 days off in a row and EDOSC OR will not allow for any time off. Travelers must work every other holiday but prefer 2/3 holidays or Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and NYE. No RTO within the first two weeks of assignment start date. # of jobs in system we can sub - Can submit to any number of open jobs; we send to one unit at a time so that the units do not fight over candidates. Requires Specific Amounts of Exp - 2 Years of Experience required to submit. Valid State License - Must have CA license on hand at the time of submittal. Mile Radius Rule - Perm address must be 50 miles from the facility. Reference Required - 2 references are not required for submittal, but 1 is required. Local Rules - No local travelers are allowed; travelers permeant address must be over 50 miles from the facility. Candidates may float within hospital - Yes. Traveler is expected to float within skill set. Charting Exp Required - Epic computer charting is preferred but not required. Background Policy - Background Checks: DUIs are generally allowed as long as there is not a pattern of them. Return Staff Rules - Former Eisenhower Medical Center employees must have been gone for 2 or more years to be able to return as a traveler. Scheduling Requests - Candidate should be flexible with scheduling, and any out of norm requests should be submitted with profile *Block scheduling is rarely granted. Extensions: Only one extension is allowed and then the traveler must take the length of the original contract and extension combined off before being able to return to EMC as a traveler again. So, if they work a 13 week contract and then do one 13 week extension then the traveler must take 26 week off before they can return back to them as a traveler again. Inpatient call of/on call policy: Travelers may be called off OR placed on call once per pay period. If placed on call there is a 60 minute call back requirement. Modules: Modules are billable, any modules assigned and completed during traveler's contracts are not billable. 10 hours of modules required for the following Inpatient specialties: ICU RN, CVICU RN, MS/TELE RN, PCU RN, Dialysis RN, ER RN, NICU RN, L&D RN, Wound Care RN, Cath Lab RN, RRT, Case Manager, Infusion, LVN/LPM. 8 hours of modules required for Surgical RNs: PreOp RN, PACU RN, Pain Management RN, OR RN, ENDO RN. 6 hours of modules required for Allied specialties: OR Tech, GI Lab Tech, ENDO Tech, SPT, Anesthesia Tech, EP Tech, Cath Lab Tech, CVT, Scrub Tech, Radiology Tech. Modules are completed pre-start and annually, and vary by specialty. Modules are recorded via transcripts.
