Recreation Program CoordinatorPerforms indoor, outdoor, arts & crafts, educational, low organized programs and activities for youth 6-17 years of age. Work involves overseeing and maintaining assigned facility, and park dealing with the general public, maintaining safety of members, public and staff, maintaining a high profile in the community, and supervising participants in recreation and education activities. May supervise work of others and serve as a lead worker providing direction to others.Essential Job Functions:Prepare and organize registrations, supplies and special events.Maintain facilities and monitor park and building for safety.Must attend in services, and weekly staff meetings.Assist in implementation of Community Recreation Programs.Assist in team sports practices and tournaments.Assist in implementing special events.Perform physical and manual work.Plan and coordinate activities with supervisor and co-workers.Prepare for and attend staff meetings as needed.Must assist other staff as assigned.Implement programs assigned.Requires knowledge of equipment operations and safety procedures.Familiarize him/herself with city rules, regulations and policies etc.Perform other duties as assigned and required.Conditions of Employment:Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete, inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration. Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense. Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record. Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within 60 days of hire. Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.Required Education: Pursuing high school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency.Required Work Experience: No experience required.Experience Preference: Preferred some professional work experience in the Parks & Recreation Field or equivalent.Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Prefer individual have own transportationMust be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to understand and follow instructions and directions.Good public relations abilityLearn and become knowledgeable with departmental and city rules/regulations.Bookkeeping and management skills.Equipment Materials:General office and safety equipment/materials to include but not limited to the following:ComputerGeneral office equipmentAthletic recreation gamesArt & crafts equipmentWork Conditions:Individual works indoors and outdoors to implement and supervise programs and special events for the community.
