Shop Manager - Construction Equipment

Shop Manager Saiia Construction Company LLC is currently hiring for an on-site Shop Manager for a multi-year heavy civil CCR (coal ash remediation) site in Chester, VA. Position Summary: The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of equipment and vehicles on site. This role ensures equipment is properly maintained, safe, and available to support daily operations. The Shop Manager works closely with site leadership, corporate teams, and subcontractors to coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, and equipment tracking. Location: Chester, VA Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include overseeing all maintenance and repair activities for site equipment, managing all site pickup trucks, developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and vehicles, supervising and working with the Shop Attendant to maintain proper inventory of tools and parts, ensuring all equipment meets safety, inspection, and DOT requirements, and maintaining records of maintenance and repair history, equipment downtime, service schedules, and costs. Qualifications: Required experience, skills, and abilities include coal ash remediation/CCR experience strongly preferred, experience in heavy equipment is a must, knowledge of construction equipment operations, ability to manage PM programs and repair schedules, strong organizational and communication skills, experience working with vendors and subcontractors, familiarity with safety and DOT compliance preferred, willingness to work 60+ hours/week, CDL license is preferred, mechanical aptitude is important, and troubleshooting equipment experience is required. Educational and experience requirements include a high school diploma/GED is required, minimum two years of experience in a Shop Manager role with a Construction based organization is preferred. Work environment includes construction site and shop setting, combination of field and administrative responsibilities, and may require extended hours based on operational needs.
