Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry \n Discipline: RN \n Start Date: 09/21/2026 \n Duration: 12 weeks \n 36 hours per week \n Shift: 12 hours, days \n Employment Type: Travel \n \n Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele \n Location: Macon Georgia 31201 Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift - 36 Shift Information: 7A-7P Clinical Interviewing- Yes - Manager Approval to Offer On Call, Call Back Requirements: None Weekend Rotation: 6 shifts on a 6 week schedule (6 out of 12 shifts) Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays Floating Requirements: All med surg / telemetry units About Facility: \n \n 637 licensed beds \n Level 1 Trauma Designation \n Teaching Hospital \n Chest Pain Center \n Stroke Center \n Unit Information: \n \n Beds: 35 \n Census: 35 \n Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years Med/Tele RN experience\n \n Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes \n Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: \n \n Orthopedic and Trauma: fractures of all types (femur, tib-fib, humerus, spinal, rib, etc.). Head trauma-hemorrhage; osteomyelitis \n Patients with acute or chronic disease \n Post-op surgeries \n Co-morbidities common to med-surg population: diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, electrolytes imbalances \n Patient Ratios: \n \n RN : 1:4-6 \n LPN : 1:4-6 \n CNA : 2-3 per shift \n Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:\n \n BLS required \n BCR (Basic Cardiac Rythm) are required – meaning traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of Compliance \n ACLS - preferred \n National certification- Medical-surgical certification or Nephrology nursing - preferred \n Skills required: \n \n Trach chare, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, drips to titrate HR but NOT BP \n Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital \n IV insertion and care, central line management \n Wound care and post op monitoring \n Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation \n Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams \n Discharge planning and patient education, particularly on renal and fluid management \n Support within the Department: \n \n CNA: Duties: Yes - assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team); obtain blood from blood bank \n Receptionist/HUC: Unit secretary on unit 7a-11p; then house wide call secretary 11p-7a \n Charge nurse – may have patients \n Phlebotomy: Most units are lab collect phlebotomy; nurses drawn from CVLs \n IV/VAT Team: Not an IV team - do have a PICC team \n Resource Nurse: Yes, we have discharge nurses, resource team floats to all units \n RT 24/7: yes \n Hospitalist 24/7: yes \n Intensivist 24/7: yes \n Telemetry monitoring/tech: Central Telemetry Unit \n Technology/Equipment: \n \n EMR: EPIC \n IV Pump: Alaris \n Med dispensing: Pyxis \n Monitors: Phillips \n Unit specific equipment: \n \n VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips Cardiac Telemetry monitoring \n Portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp) \n Bladder scanners, IV pump, portable oxygen system \n External fixators, chest tubes, JP drains and Hemovac drains \n Glucommander \n PCA pain management \n Suction machine \n Use of admission/ discharge protocol for rapid turnover \n \n Floating: If yes, where: All adult med surg / telemetry units in house\n \n Orientation (facility and unit): \n \n 1 day orientation with work on educational modules \n 2 days departmental \n Scheduling: \n \n Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 (on a 6-week schedule) \n On call: If so, what is that schedule: No call \n Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after 12/24 or 12/25 12/31 or 1/1 \n RTO Requests: Manager approval \n Shift times: 12-hour shifts 7A-7P or 7P-7A \n Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks \n Other notes: \n \n Scrub Color: RN- Navy; LPN- Ceil Blue \n Parking: Free: Have free parking around campus or can pay to park in parking decks \n Unit Culture: busy but work as team \n \n \n PCUnurse1\n \n TalentBurst, Inc Job ID 26-27184.
