The Montessori Academy of Chicago is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist for the 2026 – 2027 school year, and beyond. This position can either be filled by a full time employee or a part-time employee. As a member of the Academy's Achievement Resource Center, the Speech and Language Pathologist is expected to work with children ranging in age from infancy through middle school.

We are looking for a smart, dynamic candidate with a warm and engaging personality. This individual must be dedicated to serving children and families. The ideal candidate has lots of energy, can work in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to be part of team. We strongly prefer candidates who are flexible and who demonstrate a strong sense of empathy.

The Speech and Language Pathologist would provide high-quality individual treatment services, evaluation, and screening to students at the Academy. The therapist will work collaboratively with the school social worker, occupational therapist, and classroom teachers to support children’s growth, learning, and development. They will also make important contributions to the overall school culture and well-being of the school community.

Roles and responsibiltities

• Year round school environment
• Typical daily schedule 8-4:30 pn
• Independence with documentation and consistent communication with families
• School-based support and programming related to speech and language, reading, and general student support

Skills, experience, other requirements:

• Current Illinois state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Competence with insurance billing.
• CAQH credentialing preferred.

• Phonology
• Motor planning
• Receptive and expressive language, especially in young children
• Literacy (decoding, comprehension, spelling)
• Fluency
• Feeding/swallowing
• Cognition
• Pragmatic language skills
