Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVOR RN for a Level 1 trauma hospital position requiring AZ or compact RN licensure and mandatory call coverage.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) of an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital
• Unit consists of 6 operating rooms plus 1 hybrid OR
• Handles approximately 7 cases per day, with a maximum of 15 cases per day
• Common cases include open heart, vascular, endovascular, thoracic, esophageal, general, hepatobiliary, and lung, liver, and kidney transplants
• Uses Cerner/Surginet EMR charting system
• Schedule consists of 4, 10-hour day shifts (0630-1700), Monday through Friday
• Mandatory call required 1-2 nights per week, including days and weekends
• Possible weekend call requirements: 1 weekend of first call and 1 weekend of second call per month
• Floating required to General OR or BNI OR
• Charge nurse and CSTs are present on staff

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required, no pending licenses accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CNOR certification preferred but not required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be competent in maintaining sterile field, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Must pass a Day 1 pass/fail exam on Foley catheter insertion and complete SIMs Lab competency assessments
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, both including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care for complex cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and transplant surgical cases
• Work alongside CSTs and a dedicated charge nurse on the unit
• Complete SIMs Lab training covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, as well as educational modules on lifts, restraints, and wound care
• May be required to work on-call during holidays
• Steel blue scrubs required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license address
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year are not eligible
