The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at LewisGale Medical Center provides you with the tools necessary to succeed in today’s hospital environment. This paid, year‑long program helps you transition from student nurse to registered nurse through hands‑on education, mentorship, and evidence‑based practice projects. What will you do in this role: Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and document the administration of care in a timely and thorough manner. Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient for therapeutic response, notify the provider, and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response. Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipate patient needs, and resolve them proactively. Teach patients, families and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects and follow‑up measures, translating complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment. Other certifications may be required during employment. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse status in the state. No previous experience required. Some travel may be required for training. Benefits $20,000 Sign‑On Bonus.
