Water/Wastewater Utility Technician

What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran: Key Responsibilities Preventative & Corrective Maintenance on lift stations and their assets (generators/auxiliary pumps) including inspections. Servicing the Vacuum station (a collection system that relies on vacuum suction to transport sewage from homes within the neighborhood) is different from the typical gravity/force main sewer system. Fix & repair leaks to water, reclaim, and force mains as they arise. Installs and changes out water and reuse meters. Perform meter reads. Work with Utility billing and customer service relations. City hall generates work orders, whether this is turn on or turn off’s for accounts. Flushes hydrants, maintenance, exercises valves, and performs pressure tests of fire hydrants. Service backflows (if the license is obtained). Work with GIS for locates. Operates various heavy and light equipment including backhoes, crane truck, vac trucks, etc. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed Requirements Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, including or supplemented by courses in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance. Experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, compressors, and plumbing fixtures preferred. Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills. Ability to repair pumping equipment and control switches. Experience with wastewater and water transfer systems a plus! Water Distribution License issued by the state of Florida or the ability to obtain within 1 year. Must possess a valid FL driver’s license and a safe driving record. CDL is a plus or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months.
