Job TitleUnderwriting SpecialistJob DescriptionThe responsibilities of this job are to provide support to the retail and wholesale platform in loan decisions, underwriting guidance, and scenario questions based on GSE guidelines and requirements while ensuring and maintaining quality.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide assistance to both retail and TPO originators, processors, for questions regarding guidelines, income requirements scenarios.Maintain a small pipeline of loans to decision for final approval based on underwriting authority delegations.Review all appraisal types for final approval including issuing NOV's and HFS/USDA conditional requirementsStay updated and attend refresher training for all investor guidelinesReview and respond to management for all QC/QA exceptionsAssociates are expected to perform additional duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh school education5 years experience in underwriting FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA /USDA Rural Housing investor loansFHA DE certificationVA SAR and certificationDocumented experience in mortgage loan underwritingGeneral understanding and knowledge of underwriting and compliance guidelinesWorking knowledge and experience with DeskTop Underwriter SystemExceptional organizational skills and ability to efficiently handle workflowsSuperior problem solving skillsExcellent customer service skillsWorking knowledge of Excel, Word, and other PC applicationCollege coursework preferredPhysical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.Note: This is a brief description of this position and is not limited to those described herein.
