Transportation Analyst (Hybrid)

Role Overview The Transportation Analyst is responsible for managing, analyzing, and optimizing truck and intermodal transportation operations. This role supports Ardent Mills’ internal and external customers and drives the execution of the transportation strategy. The analyst maintains strong relationships with carriers, monitors performance, analyzes freight data, and provides actionable insights to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely deliveries. The analyst supports personnel safety and food safety by adhering to all safety standards. Key Responsibilities Freight Management Monitor performance of truck carriers and third‑party logistics providers. Conduct carrier evaluations via quarterly business reviews and carrier scorecards, ensuring service levels and contractual obligations are met. Collaborate with internal teams and carriers to resolve service issues or delays. Optimize carrier network for cost‑effective, top‑tier service delivery via RFPs. Analyze shipping patterns using TMS and Load Tracking systems. Recommend carrier adjustments to maximize service and minimize cost. Data Analysis and Reporting Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to truck transportation, including shipment costs, delivery times, and carrier performance. Prepare regular reports on transportation metrics, KPIs, cost analysis, and service levels. Identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Develop action plans to improve gaps and underperformance. Track and analyze freight expenses to identify opportunities for cost reduction. Process Improvement Participate in monthly reviews to develop action plans for load service metrics and operational stability KPIs. Suggest and implement solutions that streamline operations and enhance tracking, reporting, and delivery processes. Compliance and Documentation Ensure carrier compliance with regulatory requirements related to truck transportation, including DOT regulations, safety standards, and environmental rules. Ensure carrier compliance with Ardent Mills safety and food safety rules and processes. Maintain accurate records of shipments, invoices, and contracts related to transportation. Collaboration and Communication Work cross‑functionally with supply chain, operations, sales, warehousing, procurement, and customer service teams to ensure seamless transportation operations. Communicate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate truck deliveries and resolve issues. Participate in cross‑functional continuous improvement initiatives as required. Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. 2–4 years of experience in transportation or logistics, focusing on truck transportation. Proven experience analyzing transportation data and managing relationships with carriers or third‑party logistics providers. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and solutions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with transportation management software (TMS) is highly preferred. Understanding of truck transportation operations, routing, fleet management, and freight regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail‑oriented with strong organization, prioritization, and time‑management abilities. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with teams. Good to have: Relevant certifications (APICS, Six Sigma). Experience working for a carrier or third‑party logistics company. Experience with bulk transportation. Experience in food logistics. Cross‑border or dedicated freight experience. Experience negotiating rates and contracts. Physical Requirements Ability to be on call after hours and weekends as needed. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Compensation and Benefits Competitive base salary range: $74,600.00 – $93,200.00, with additional earning potential based on experience. Targeted bonus plan: 5% annual incentive (MIP).
