Logistics Manager

About The Role The Logistics Manager will manage Elwood’s day-to-day logistics operations across supplier shipments, 3PL coordination, inventory movement, fulfillment, returns, and logistics reporting. Elwood works with a third-party logistics provider, and our suppliers ship on DDP terms, meaning suppliers are responsible for delivering goods to the agreed destination with freight, duties, taxes, and import-related costs handled by the supplier. The Logistics Manager will not be expected to run every freight lane directly, but will be responsible for ensuring supplier shipments are properly coordinated, received on time, accurately documented, and efficiently processed by the 3PL. The ideal candidate is highly organized, calm under pressure, strong with vendor management, and able to create visibility and accountability across multiple external partners. Core Responsibilities Serve as Elwood’s primary day-to-day logistics contact for our 3PL, suppliers, internal teams, and other external partners. Manage communication with the 3PL related to inbound receiving, outbound fulfillment, inventory management, returns, storage, and operational exceptions. Coordinate inbound shipments from suppliers shipping under DDP terms, ensuring timely delivery to the correct destination and clear communication of ETAs. Ensure suppliers provide required shipment documentation, including packing lists, commercial invoices, shipment details, carton counts, ASNs, delivery appointments, and other receiving information. Monitor inbound shipments from supplier dispatch through 3PL receipt, proactively identifying delays, documentation gaps, damages, shortages, or delivery issues. Hold suppliers accountable to DDP obligations, including delivery timelines, freight responsibility, duties, taxes, customs clearance, and delivery to the agreed destination. Partner with the 3PL to ensure inbound shipments are received accurately and on time. Track and resolve receiving discrepancies, including shortages, overages, damages, incorrect labeling, missing documentation, and misrouted shipments. Oversee outbound fulfillment performance, including order accuracy, shipping timelines, customer delivery issues, and 3PL service levels. Monitor inventory accuracy across systems and work with the 3PL to investigate discrepancies, cycle count issues, adjustments, and stock movement. Manage returns, exchanges, and reverse logistics workflows in coordination with customer service, operations, and the 3PL. Review and reconcile 3PL invoices, storage fees, fulfillment charges, receiving fees, accessorials, and other logistics-related costs. Track logistics KPIs, including inbound on-time delivery, receiving SLA, inventory accuracy, order accuracy, fulfillment speed, return processing time, damage rate, and 3PL performance. Identify process improvements across supplier communication, inbound planning, 3PL workflows, documentation, inventory control, and fulfillment execution. Work cross-functionally with operations, demand planning, finance, customer service, and sales to ensure logistics supports business needs. Maintain SOPs for supplier shipping requirements, inbound receiving, 3PL communication, inventory reconciliation, returns, and exception management. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, operations, inventory management, 3PL management, or a related field. Experience working with third-party logistics providers, warehouses, fulfillment centers. Strong understanding of inbound logistics, receiving processes, inventory movement, and order fulfillment. Experience coordinating with suppliers, vendors, freight partners, or international manufacturers. Familiarity with DDP shipping terms or international inbound shipments preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage shipment documentation accurately. Excellent communication skills and ability to follow up consistently with external partners. Strong problem-solving skills, especially around delays, discrepancies, damages, inventory issues, and fulfillment errors. Comfortable working in spreadsheets, inventory systems, ERP systems, WMS platforms, or order management tools. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
