Barron Creek Farm is a regenerative, sustainable farm dedicated to growing fresh, locally grown produce while restoring soil health, supporting biodiversity, and strengthening connections between people and the land. Our mission is to demonstrate environmentally responsible farming practices while providing healthy food to our community. This internship offers hands‑on experience in regenerative agriculture, crop production, livestock care, and daily farm operations. Internship Period July 28, 2026 – September 18, 2026 Qualifications Previous farming, gardening, ranching, or agricultural experience A strong interest in regenerative and sustainable agriculture Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely use hand tools Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable transportation to and from the farm Internship Responsibilities The intern will work alongside the Barron Creek Farm team to support daily farm operations. Crop Production Seed, transplant, cultivate, and harvest seasonal vegetables and flowers Weed, mulch, irrigate, and maintain growing areas Wash, sort, and pack produce for community distribution using food‑safe practices Monitor crop health and report pest, disease, or irrigation concerns Livestock Care Feed and water chickens Collect eggs and maintain clean nesting areas Monitor animal health and report concerns promptly Farm Maintenance Assist with compost production and soil‑building activities Help maintain fencing, pathways, tools, and equipment Keep workspaces clean, organized, and safe Assist with general property upkeep as needed Assist with harvesting, and collecting and inputting harvest data Assist with produce donations Help during community events and volunteer workdays : 7/30 Farm to Table Dinner 3-10pm 8/15 8-4 Farm to Table Brunch Represent Barron Creek Farm professionally when interacting with visitors Internship Schedule Duration July 28, 2026 – September 18, 2026 Commitment Approximately 14 hours per weekWednesdays & Thursdays 8-4 Typical workdays will begin in the morning to avoid afternoon heat. Occasional weekend hours may be required during harvests or special events on the dates shared above. Learning Objectives Organic vegetable production Soil health and compost management Seed starting and propagation Irrigation systems Harvesting and post‑harvest handling Farm safety and equipment maintenance Seasonal crop planning and field management Expected Performance Interns are expected to: Arrive on time and ready to work Work safely and follow farm procedures and farm supervisors Complete assigned tasks with attention to detail Ask questions and actively seek to learn Communicate openly with supervisors and team members Respect farm equipment, animals, crops, and fellow workers Maintain a positive, professional attitude Output help grow, harvest, prep and donate produce for our community assist in community engagement through 2 workdays and 2-3 farm to table experiences help harvest, prep and donate produce Intern edits of the SOP Expand community reach of the farm by +30 followers or newsletter additions Success will be measured by dependability, initiative, teamwork, work quality, and willingness to learn. Compensation Hourly rate in the range of $20.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on experience. This is a part‑time non‑exempt paid summer internship. Academic or service‑learning credit may be available through the intern's educational institution. Pre‑approved expenses incurred while representing Barron Creek Farm may be reimbursed.
