Senior Manager, People (EMEA)
Toast Inc
Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, helping business owners operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy. Reporting to the Area Vice President of International People, the Senior Manager, People plays a critical role in supporting our growing markets by partnering with leaders and teams across multiple functions. Supporting our Ireland and UK entities, as well as future expansion in EMEA, this role collaborates closely with People teams and the business to design and execute people strategies that enable growth, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and ensure a consistent, scalable, and locally relevant employee experience. Operating in dynamic and evolving environments, this role drives impact through adaptability, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of both global and market‑specific business needs. As our teams grow and build market capabilities, we need a strong operational foundation that delivers a consistent, high‑quality employee experience across diverse needs. The Senior Manager, People serves as a connector between global HR initiatives and market‑specific needs, ensuring programs are equitable, competitive, and locally compliant across all growing markets. We are looking for someone who can help define the “right” problem to be solved, who can pivot quickly when those issues shift in response to business changes, and who thinks creatively through it all. This is a hybrid role located in Dublin, Ireland. The Senior Manager, People will be expected to report to the Dublin office 2 times per week. A day in the life (Responsibilities) Shape and execute core People strategies as Toast scales, and maintain a high‑impact partnership across various domains, including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, People Operations, and Payroll. Play a key part in overseeing compliance, system rollouts, and other foundational activities to ensure operational excellence. Collaborate with various functions such as Finance, Real Estate and Workplace Experience, Legal and other functions to enable the operationalization of Toast entities. Partner closely with People Team Centers of Excellence (COEs) to support the design and implementation of compensation, benefits, payroll, and other people programs that align with Toast’s global strategy, while ensuring compliance with local labor laws and employment regulations. Act as the primary People and administrative liaison during the early stages of market development. As these markets evolve, collaborate with People Team COEs to establish scalable operational frameworks and program support. Flex between solving day‑to‑day tactical challenges and processes to strategically impacting objectives for effective functioning of the location. Work closely with the local leadership community and individuals onsite to implement strategies and programs that are locally relevant and globally consistent to help the company achieve strategic goals, while improving the overall employee experience. Provide guidance on employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and oversee the grievance and disciplinary process as needed. Monitor industry best practices and employment standards in the region and partner with COEs to ensure policies, practices, and programs are administered in a locally relevant and compliant manner. Act as liaison with local government agencies on People related matters (such as the Workplace Relations Commission). In close partnership with Legal and People Team COEs, ensure compliance and readiness for local People/HR related employment standards and administrative audits as required. Act as a change agent in conjunction with local leadership for key global communications or change management activities. What you'll need to thrive (Requirements) 10-12+ years of experience in a People function. Proven knowledge of policies, local labor laws, regulations, and jurisdictional requirements. Experience in working in a global organization, across timezones, and in a matrixed environment in close partnership with overseas Functional HR Business Partners and Global HR Centers of Excellence. Demonstrated success in a high‑growth organization with multiple stakeholders with varying needs. Demonstrated ability, creative problem‑solving, and training/coaching. Strong teamwork, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Entrepreneurial spirit/mindset, and flexibility toward dynamic change. Experience conducting employee relations (ER) investigations, while exhibiting excellent judgment. Special Sauce (Nice‑to‑have) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HR and/or HR certification preferred.
