Physical Therapist (PT) - Acute Care & Inpatient Rehab, PRN

Position Title Physical Therapist – Acute Care & Inpatient Rehab Job Summary Under medical supervision, the Physical Therapist is responsible for delivering inpatient rehabilitation services within an acute care hospital setting. The role supports adult inpatients across multiple units, contributing to interdisciplinary care focused on recovery, safety, and discharge planning. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and treat patients according to physician orders and established plans of care. Collaborate with physicians, nursing, therapy colleagues, and care management teams. Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge recommendations per hospital standards. Support safe discharge planning and transitions of care. Provide assessment of strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, posture, muscle performance, and motor function. Deliver various treatments such as exercise, electrical stimulation, heat/cold packs, and ultrasound to relieve pain or reduce swelling. Provide patient education regarding treatment plan, activity, exercises, and assistive/adaptive devices. Assess wounds and implement the appropriate skin care protocol. Perform duties with indirect supervision and make independent decisions as needed. Participate in discharge plan rounds as needed. Maintain proficiency in documentation practices, patient evaluation, treatment implementation, and goal setting. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program. Current Tennessee licensure or eligibility. Physical Therapy license in Tennessee. Prior acute care or hospital-based experience preferred. Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
