Company Description: 60-Bed Acute Medical Rehabilitation Hospital Job Description The Senior Physical Therapist provides physical therapy according to hospital, state, professional and federal regulations and guidelines and demonstrates and promotes excellence in physical therapy patient care and treatment. In addition, the position: Requires effective mentoring and training skills along with good communication skills for departmental relationships. Requires competency in physical therapy evaluation, assessment, care planning and treatment. Requires task delegation and supervision of physical therapist assistants and technicians. Assists with scheduling physical therapy in‑services education, physical therapy student program, physical therapists and assistants orientation. Assists with physical therapist and assistant mentoring, training and communications to drive physical therapy excellence for patient treatments. Maintains open and on‑going communication with hospital departments to ensure patient, staff, and hospital needs are met. Typically provides patient care in licensed discipline 90% to 95% of work hours. Qualifications Your Qualifications: License or Certification: Must have current state license or certification; in states where licensing is not required, defer to state practice act. CPR certification preferred unless otherwise required by hospital policy. Education, Training and Experience: Successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited therapy program. A minimum of four years of physical therapy experience is required. Clinical specialist designation via Health care System's clinical ladder or professional organization. Machines, Equipment Used: General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer. Physical Requirements: Visual acuity and ability to communicate sufficiently to conduct safe patient care duties. Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds, which includes participating in patient mobility activities. Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English. Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail‑oriented manner. Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email. Ability to work independently without supervision. Environmental Conditions: Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke‑free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure. Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required. Handicapped accessibility. May work under stressful circumstances at times. Proficiency or Productivity Standards: May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines. May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts. Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster. May be required to stay after work day to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives. Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of the position.
