Echo Vascular Technician

Overview This position performs a variety of diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for the identification of cardiac or venous abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. Location & Compensation Location: Intermountain Health Heart & Vascular – Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Hours: 40 per week. Hourly rate: $38.77 – $59.82 depending on experience. Responsibilities Demonstrate technical competence for performance protocols specific to the department. Prioritize and schedule exams. Coordinate exams with medical staff, physician offices, other caregivers, and patients. Prepare for exams by following patient identification processes, educating patients and families on the procedure, and transporting the patient. Perform ultrasound exams consistent with related protocols and in a timely manner. Ensure patient safety and comfort and achieve quality outcomes. Identify patient needs during the exam and appropriately communicate and coordinate patient care with physicians, other caregivers, patients, and families. After the exam, return patients to the room and ensure patient stability and safety. Mentor caregivers and students on basic equipment use and procedural technique. Document exam results and other needed information accurately. Apply appropriate charge codes for exams and supplies. Clean and maintain equipment, work area, and stock supplies. Coordinate repair or supply needs through appropriate channels. Support team and quality improvement processes and initiatives. Participate in educational opportunities to maintain clinical competence and develop additional skills and knowledge. Provide education for other caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.
