Certified Nursing Assistant Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• At least 2 years of bedside clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow facility policies, infection prevention practices, HIPAA requirements, and patient safety standards

Hospital CNA Responsibilities

• Provide routine bedside care and assist patients with activities of daily living
• Support safe patient handling and maintain awareness of fall, infection, and workplace safety risks
• Observe patients and communicate care concerns promptly to the nursing team
• Assist with meal selection, menu delivery, nourishment distribution, and dietary needs according to prescribed diet orders
• Help patients make appropriate menu selections while considering allergies, sensitivities, and cultural or religious preferences
• Maintain accurate patient care documentation and follow current care and diet instructions
• Assist with patient room, unit, and departmental organization as needed
• Participate in in-service education, team meetings, and ongoing competency activities
• Work collaboratively with nursing, food service, and support departments to promote a positive patient experience
• Perform additional duties within the CNA scope of practice as assigned
