As the largest independent laboratory in the region, we provide clinical and diagnostic testing services to physicians, hospitals, employers, and government agencies across the Gulf South. We are actively scaling operations through our new partnership with FMOL Health. We are hiring a Medical Billing Associate to be the first point of contact on our billing line and to keep payments moving accurately through XiFin. This is hands-on work for someone precise with money. What You Will Own Answer billing-line calls from patients, practices, and payers, verifying identity before disclosing PHI. Resolve balance, statement, EOB, and insurance questions at first contact and document each one in XiFin. Process patient and client payments in XiFin, including portal, phone, and card-not-present transactions. Post checks, manual payments, and paper remittance advices to the correct accounts at the line level. Reconcile daily payment batches to bank deposit activity and clear unapplied cash and variances daily. Work XiFin error and rejection queues daily, resubmitting corrected claims within timely-filing windows. Identify recurring error patterns by client, payer, or test code so defects are corrected at the source. Follow documented processes for cash handling and payment application, and keep documentation audit-ready. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of experience in medical billing, patient accounts, or revenue cycle operations. Demonstrated e xperience posting payments and reconciling daily batch or deposit totals. Professional telephone customer service experience, including frustrated callers on balance disputes. Working proficiency with a billing management system. Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements as applied to billing communications. Preferred Clinical laboratory or pathology billing background, including client versus patient versus payer billing. Familiarity with Medicare and Louisiana Medicaid coverage determinations and ABN requirements. Payerportal experience with Louisiana Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, Humana, and UnitedHealthcare. Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour, non-exempt and eligible for overtime beyond forty hours in a workweek. Benefits include medical, dental, PTO, and standard Orion employee benefits.
