Job Summary for Emergency Room RN - 3/12s MID SHIFT


- Shift: 3 x 12-hour mid shifts per week
- Travelers: No first-time travelers; must be proficient in EPIC
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room RN experience required
- Schedule: Weekend requirement of 6 shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week block
- RTO Policy: Max 4 consecutive days off approved
- Unit:
- 55-bed Emergency Department
- Patient volume: 200/day (summer), 350/day (winter)
- LVN coverage provided for RN breaks
- Patient ratio: 4:1
- Fast Track area: 8 beds
- Patient Population:
- 88% adult, 8% pediatric
- High acuity: STEMI, Sepsis, Primary Stroke Center, Forensics Program
- No OB/GYN cases
- 81% Medicare, average patient age 76
- 60-120 sexual assault forensic cases/month (care provided, but travelers do not perform exams)
- 80 ambulance arrivals/day
- Clinical Skills/Procedures:
- EPIC charting
- Therapeutic hypothermia
- TPA administration (high volume)
- LVN starts IV lines
- Required Certifications/Skills:
- ACLS, BCLS, NIH, PALS
- IV Start, Telemetry, Triage
- Must pass EKG exam during orientation
- Preferred Certifications/Skills:
- MAB, CPI, Vents, TNCC
- Facility:
- Magnet-designated hospital
- Strong customer service skills required
- Other Requirements:
- Flu vaccination required (exemptions considered)
