What you will do Provides Practice Excellence through specialized nursing assessment, care, evaluation and education to patients and families in accordance with established policies and procedures. Promotes evidence-based practice by using research to develop, implement and evaluate process standards, such as plans of care, protocols and guidelines. Analyze incoming patient information and determine the appropriate plan of care in accordance with protocols. Coordinate patient needs and possible escalation of treatment with physicians and patients when changes in patient conditions are present. Communicate with patients regarding their health status and provide education, coaching, and guidance as recommended by the ordering physician. Responsible for the implementation of orders provided by the physician. Compile summaries of patient status and data over the course of monitoring. Provide detailed correspondence and communication with physicians on patient progress. Education/Formal Training Requirements Required - Associates Degree Nursing Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Nursing Work Experience Requirements Required - Registered Nurse 5-7 years Licenses and Certifications Requirements Required - BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association Required - Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Analytical skills necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively and to develop comprehensive plans of care. Synthesizes multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems. Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts and techniques, which are central to the nursing profession. Other certifications may be required (i.e. BLS) Ability to evaluate problematic situations and be able to adapt and respond to resolve the situation/issue. Proficient in the use of computer and multiple software systems. Proficient in use of basic office equipment; multi-line phones; and data entry. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Supervision Provided by this Position The Registered Nurse directs and delegates patient care activities on nursing units. Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
